Doctor Takes Personality Test | Are They Even Accurate?

Residents in my Discord have been asking me what my Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator is, and I didn’t know! So I sat down to take a personality test inspired by the MBTI philosophy and was… surprised by my results. There are several scientific problems with these tests which should prevent them from ever being used in making a major life decision. Some companies actually use these things to hire employees and structure their business, and that’s not something I can endorse. That being said, these tests are very fun and can be entertaining to take with friends or even provide you with some introspection if done with a professional. Let me know what personality type you are down in the comments!
I LOVE reading your comments and take your suggestions seriously. If there’s a subject you want me to discuss or something you’d like for me to react to, leave a comment down below. Many of my videos have been born out of suggestions directly from you, so don’t hold back!

  • So people say Meyers-Briggs isn't reliable... but as an INFP, I 100% identify with my type and think it was spot on diagnosis. So, it's obviously not that wrong. Oh and for all the MB tests I've taken, I always get the same result.

You don’t try to solve people’s problems because you’re a Dr., you try to solve them because you’re a MAN. No judgment😏, it’s just biology. Here’s my diagnosis based on your symptoms.. you have a mild to moderate case of testosterone. You’re first treatment is {repeat after me} “ I’m so sorry, Honey! That sounds really hard.” Repeat this out loud 10x daily for 2 weeks, and begin application slowly in real life. You’re welcome.

  • I agree with this test I've read way too much into personality type and the Jungian functions behind them and ESFJ was what I would type him with. Slightly leaning on that he could have gotten ENFJ result though I still think he's ESFJ. His main function Fe extraverted feeling is important when he says he likes to take in the room of people and get to understand their humour. That's a clear sign of extroverted feeling being highly valued and highly developed. Also that he cares about others opinions and the feelings of others, and being a family doctor who follows up the same patients over time is very good for his personality. Also, introverted sensing which would be his 2nd function where he says he can think back on memories far back and really ponder on them. Don't get me wrong, most people do it to some degree, but SJs will often do it more as they're more focused on memories and learning from the past than others Sometimes he talked about being deep and philosophical. I haven't personally seen it more than than in the average person in his videos, but how he agreed about it signals that intuition definitely is a child function (3rd function in mbti). I can't distinguish Ni or Ne based on his video, but bases on ESFJ he should have Ne. The 3rd function is described as an eternal child because you often look up to people who have it highly developed in a childlike way and you can be more emotionally vulnerable when using that function or if you're insulted by it

  • I would say you are an INFJ like I am. The main difference, between our answers, is that you missed a lot of the middle answers which basically mean "depends." I am very situationally oriented which means I'm flexible in my response. But I think the major trait, of an INFJ, is that we are passionately interested in many fields which is why I got my Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies.

  • Myers-Briggs is not "disproven". Clinical psychologists say it's not a useful tool for them. It was never meant to be - it's based on Jungian psychology which is about individuals gaining personal insight through introspection. Saying it's disproven is like saying "table saws are disproven because plumbers say you can't drive a nail with them".

  • The OCEAN personality test IS Scientifically proven an way more accurate and detailed. People usually don’t find it interesting to take because they’re given percentages of different traits. People like to be labeled, and OCEAN doesn’t do that, but a lot of therapists use it.

  • Dr Mike, you should check out socionics and CPT. They are more accurate. The former gives compatibility profiles for types as well. While the latter gives pretty accurate reasoning on the system. I would argue that you are an intuitive introvert. And I would argue that you are either an INFp or an INTp. Those types have Ni(introverted intuition) as their first function. The lowercase last latter indicates the first function of the type in socionics. As opposed to MBTY where they focus on your first extraverted function. Here are the socionics profiles of the INFp and INTp by Victor Gulenko(a clinical psychologist from Ukraine) : INFp(The Lyricist): INTp(The Critic): That's only if you are interested... PS: While MBTY is not accurate, Dario Nardi who is a neuroscientist, have discovered some connections between the brain regions and these cognitive predispositions.

  • okay but let's remember that MBTI isn't supposed to dictate who you are for the rest of your life, it's just there so you can understand yourself a bit more. yes, your personality can change because of experiences and influential forces around you. does that mean everyone gets inconsistent answers? no, because some people have their personality set straight: at least, to them it would seem so.

  • I first took the Myers-Briggs test at 19 years old for a job. I was INTJ. My personality has changed so much in that time (I'm 38 now), and yet every single time I've taken it, I always get INTJ. I don't think these tests deny that personality is a spectrum. The test even tells you what percentage of each trait you have. Labels are just that. I label myself as a female, but of course I recognize that I have some masculine traits. The problem is not the label, the problem is interpreting labels as black and white, all or nothing.

Also the Myers Briggs has 16 types that hit at the core values of a person and are not an end all be all but can be helpful to allow someone to understand themselves a little better. With the direct guidance, these tests can be a good thing and have added a lot to psychological testing. They are not perfect but yeah. They are helpful. Just saying Counselor in training over here.

There are different facets within those 5 categories that give a decent overview of what makes up a personality. I have no idea what the “16 personality test” bases their science on, but I have not learned about it yet getting my psych degree lol. If anyone is interested in a super in depth personality quiz search up “IPIP-NEO personality test.” It covers a lot and seems to be quite accurate if you look over the results thoroughly.
