There sure are a LOT of weight management tips across the internet, and after my research it appears finding the facts from trustworthy sources is harder than it seems. Heck, I’m a doctor and had trouble verifying a lot of this stuff, so how is someone without a medical degree supposed to find accurate and safe info? Today I’m taking a look at some popular weight loss tips around the internet to tell you what’s real and and what’s not.

  • I've never eaten to the point where I was so full that I hated myself. If I'm too full, I feel.. too full. I don't feel guilt or hate. Tbh, feeling self hatred and guilt after you eat can be considered disordered eating, which is common and normalized but still doesnt feel very good. I would just recommend not normalizing it further by saying everyones been there.

  • I like to use protein supplements in smoothies where I can turn it into a balanced meal (peanut or other nuts/nut butters for fat and fruits like banana for carbs). For me at least, I find it really helps because I do have trouble eating alot of food and being able to consume a calorie dense yet relatively small portion helps me maintain my weight.   • Hi dr mike, I’m a female who has a neurological disability and I have always been confused about food and what’s actually health and what’s not. E.g. when I was about 7 I was told that cheese has ‘fats’ and ‘fat’ makes you fat.   • Please be careful with HIIT exercises if you are a girl!!! Doing HIIT frequently can damage your system to the point where you lose your period which is not something that should happen or should be taken lightly. So many women and models who have been doing HIIT all the time have experienced this and it took them so long to get it back, for some having children was in question due to this.   • I lost 40 lbs by eating off the dollar menu at MCDonalds because they list the calories next to their items. I could budget 1500-1800 calories easily. they screwed up the dollar menu recently, but the caloric budgeting makes it easy to not over or undereat.

  • In the past 2 years I went from 242 lbs to 147 lbs (and still losing). My tips are: using smaller plates, intermittant fasting, drinking sparkling water to fill you up, eating a piece of fruit a few minutes before your meals so you don't sit at the table starving, don't have seconds, chew thoroughly, limit the amount of refined flour you consume, and do both cardio and weight lifting (and no ladies, lifting weight won't make you buff like a man). BTW, I'm 41 years old, so if someone says that it's "impossible" to lose weight after 35 know that it's not true.

  • Please do a look through and review of Skald products, I workout regularly and try to be in calorie deficit and I’m on a strict diet but after having my third baby I am stuck at 150 at 5’6” and I’ve never been above 130lbs, I really want to try this product and if I order it I’ll take it to my doctor as well but I want opinions that aren’t potentially paid reviews before I drop $50 on a bottle of supplements. And I know you probably don’t like supplements but I’m telling ya I’m desperate at this point and it’s effecting my mental health.

  • Intermittent fasting.... I don't like the idea of losing muscle mass I'm at the gym trying to burn fat and put on muscle so that will never work for me 7:10 this is the struggle for me, I love going to the gym so workout out from cardio or resident training is not the hard part ITS BEING HUNGRY I hate hunger pain I want to eat little but if I don't eat enough the hunger pain will be to much. Thus it would seem better to not eat at all instead of very little.

  • My mom was told by her grandmother, decades ago, that you should chew your food 100 times before you swallow and that this will help you keep thin. I think 100 times for each bite is a little excessive, but this does show that such advice to "slow down" or "thoroughly" chew your food has been around for a while.

  • I used to be really fat. I was on the verge of developing serious health conditions. I remember not being able to tie my shoelaces and my sleep suffered as well. My life changed when I finally set my mind to the thinking that anything is possible if you decide so. I took a meal plan to start with. I created it online, on dietarize, which was super helpful to me. I didn't have to worry about calories, macros, nutrients and all that stuff, I just focused on walking long distances and exercising after I got on a level where I could do some simple workouts. I hope my story will inspire you to do the same. To change your body you must first change your mind!

  • You're great, and I love your videos. Yet. There is a research-supported reason for mirrors. It's not about shaming, but psych studies show that mirrors only create more consciousness of what you're doing. That can be very valuable. Maybe pair with a psychologist (not psychiatrist) for a video or two.

  • I have to disagree with him about the hunger one. I have binge eating disorder and feel powerful hunger in response to stress and strong emotions, whether or not my stomach is full. I do have to accept and normalize hunger or I would become obese. I would eat an insane amount of calories if I did not feel a lot of hunger.

  • It would have been much better if I seen this specific “ a couple of years back. I burned 12 pounds in three weeks up to now. There is certainly still need of exercises even only a few times a week and also the meals to eat must be best. It showed awesome results for me.   • I’m curious about “reduced fat” and “diet” foods and drinks that are reduced in calories . Is it better to get the full fat or whole version of a product or the lower calorie? Think yogurt, salad dressing, cheese and other dairy products.
